About Us |
Who We AreIncorporated in 2001, the Tampa Bay Technology Leadership Association was established to address a void in the Tampa Bay information technology community. While there are many technology user groups and high level strategy groups in the Tampa Bay area, there was no place that technology executives could go to find solutions. TBTLA is a non-profit organization whose membership is limited to current and former technology executives. Its two-fold mission is to apply the collective experience of the membership to real-world technology problems, and to mentor students - and other professionals - who are anticipating careers in information and technology management. We are not a forum for vendors to market their products or services. We do not invite vendors to solely demonstrate their new software. Through facilitated discussion groups we help each other resolve business problems. How We WorkOur members constantly update a list of discussion topics which may include generic issues such as retention of professional staff or specific problems being faced by an individual member or sponsoring company. At our regular quarterly meeting, through facilitated discussion, we apply our collective expertise to the current topic. Our goal is to develop “best practices” for the management of information technology. Working with Tampa Bay area colleges and universities, our membership provides trained mentors to help develop students and new managers who will be entering the information technology community. Our MissionTo be the forum of choice for senior technology managers to share real-world problems and solutions found in the everyday management and application of technology. To provide an ongoing source of mentors, experienced in the management of technology, to help train and prepare new technology managers as they assume their responsibilities in the local business community. To be a partner with our local educational institutions, providing mentoring services to undergraduate and post-graduate students anticipating careers in the use and management of information technology Through member interaction and mentoring programs, improve the effectiveness of information technology within the local business community. Membership CriteriaMembership is available to any person who meets or has met the following criteria: · Holds a senior management position within an IS or IT department · Plays a key leadership role in the organization · Has the authority to hire and discharge staff
